How to Keep Your Kids Busy this Winter Break
It’s easy to fall into the trap of having too much screen time over winter break. Plus, kids get bored pretty quickly of the same shows and games. Take a look at this list of activities we’ve put together to fight the temptation to be bored and keep your children entertained over winter break.
Check Out What’s Going on at the Library
After checking the shelves for some fun winter break reading, see what events your local library has to offer by taking a look at their calendar. For example, Burlington County’s libraries have kid specific events going on all throughout winter break. Take part in crafts, story times, movie screenings, and game nights all going on next week.
Take a Holiday Lights Field Trip
New Jersey has light displays to offer all over the state. Take a trip to a neighboring area and see what they have to offer or explore your own neighborhood one night. Turn the outing into an experience by ranking each home’s display with your family. Kids love being able to choose a favorite and will enjoy giving scores and declaring their #1 display.
Pretend it’s SUMMER Break Instead
Who isn’t ready for a break from winter already? Pack your swimsuits for a day at Sahara Sam’s. You and your kids can enjoy the water in this indoor water park and pretend it isn’t late December for a few hours.
Take the night off from cooking and let the kids take over in the kitchen. Everyone is familiar with meal subscription boxes, boxes of pre-portioned ingredients to simplify cooking. Now there are boxes created with kids in mind. They include the ingredients and recipes for a simple and delicious meal that your kids will love. Let your child take ownership of their food choices and learn scientific and mathematic principles while creating a meal to share with the whole family.
Delight the railroad and history buffs in your family with an educational outing to see the 15th annual Antique Toy Train Show at the Museum of American History in Deptford, NJ. Children are always mesmerized by life in miniature, and this exhibit will keep them entertained and excited by the villages and landscapes on display.
With the help of this list you can avoid boredom and keep your kids entertained, active, and their brains engaged this year during winter break!
