Although spring is known as the busiest time of year in real estate, there’s a lack of available real estate for buyers right now! If you’ve been on the fence about listing your home for sale, now’s a great time to do it. Take this opportunity to get ahead of the spring rush and entice buyers with a home that’ll put its best foot forward.

We’ve gathered our best tips and will help you to get your home ready to list and sell as soon as possible!

  • Start Outside

Your home’s exterior is its first impression to potential buyers. Perk up your landscaping to add curb appeal. Consider painting the front door an attractive color to invite buyers in. Some gorgeous new street numbers are another great way to primp the outside of your home and make it as inviting as possible to potential buyers.

Prep the outside by cleaning exterior surfaces. Have your siding power washed or your sidewalks cleaned before listing. A pristine exterior will let buyers know you’ve taken great care of your home.

  • Fix and Update

Take the time before you list your home to fix any damages made through years of household wear. Patching holes in walls, fixing broken cabinets, and replacing broken glass are all items that should take priority on your pre-listing docket.

While you’re in the process of fixing, update or neutralize wall colors. Some bright colors on walls can be polarizing to buyers. Neutral walls encourage visitors to envision their own belongings in a new home.

If you’re willing to go a step further, update knobs, pulls, and fixtures around your home. Replacing dated fixtures is a great way to refresh and ready your home.

  • Deep Clean

A good deep clean is a great way to demonstrate to buyers that you’ve taken the very best care of your home. A sparkling palace will put your home’s best foot forward.

While deep cleaning, be sure to tackle smells. On the occasional warm day, air out rooms by opening windows. Or, place bowls of baking soda around your home to absorb uninviting smells. It’s easy to become immune to odors you smell each day, taking some time to deodorize will make a space much more inviting.

  • Stage and Clear

Take this opportunity to put away your personal effects from around the house. Pack away family portraits and other personal items. By creating a clean slate, buyers will be able to envision their family in your space.

Reevaluate any cluttered areas that will detract from the overall look of a room. Sometimes knickknacks and other items will distract visitors from the bigger picture of a space. Clear surfaces and remove clutter to ensure buyers can see the home you want them to see.

By putting some of these tips into practice, your home will be in its best condition to welcome potential buyers and go from “for sale” to “sold” as soon as possible!
