This Award Winning Local Suburb is Converting the Most Die-Hard City Lovers
Moving to the ‘burbs was once a death sentence to hip 20-somethings, but now the suburbs are becoming a desirable destination for millennials with families. Many city dwellers swear they’ll never leave the amenities of their city life for what they consider boring suburban life. As older millennials become parents of children who will be attending schools, many reconsider the choice to call the big city “home.” Realtor.com recently named Swedesboro, NJ as one of their “Top 10 Affordable, Kid-Friendly Suburbs That City Parents Won’t Hate.” Any city lover will tell you, that’s a pretty serious claim to make. We can’t help but agree with their ranking. Swedesboro has tons to offer and just might convert city-dwellers into suburban families after all.
History- Boasting a rich history, Swedesboro was settled by Swedish immigrants (hence the name) in the 1600s. The town has a deep history that is being preserved by an active local historical society. It doesn’t take long to notice the beautifully preserved historic sites, such as the 300+ year old Schorn Cabin, around town.

Swedesboro offers a great variety of dining options from classic American fare to Italian, Indian or Mexican food. The area also offers plenty of local sweets and coffee shops for fun family outings. Along with the local library, a part of the Gloucester County Library System, the Swedesboro Library branch offers constant events for residents. For other attractions, check out the Bridgeport Speedway, Cedarvale or Wagonhouse Wineries.
Small Town Charm- Swedesboro offers what many planned suburbs don’t; it has authentic small-town charm. From an annual free concert series in the summer to their Swedesboro-Woolwich day festivities, the area offers events that hearken back to living in a charming small town.
